ModeratorThe MMSIT keeps the image file open during the acquisition. We tested it with multiple virus scanners and did not observe this problem. It is the old problems with the IT security guys. They make your equipment so secure that you can’t use it any longer. Either they can fix it for you or they have to refund you for the now useless equipment…

ModeratorOK, so far my quick guess… Just to be sure, if you remove the files from this current location, do you get the same error? Do you have permission to edit these files?
There are not too many mac users for BioMap out there and I’m not one of them. Let’s see if we can get some wisdom from the pros…

ModeratorYes, it is fairly easy to get the data into the BioMap format. You could do this also in an Excel macro, a few lines of code should do. All the information you need for that is in this forum. I guess it will take about half a day to get that going. Just find someone with experience in Visual Basic…

ModeratorBioMap works with 16 signed integers; therefore it is not possible to have a greater dynamic range.

ModeratorSo that would be in /Users/cb/.biomap/ ?

ModeratorAll right, this might be an obvious question, but did you copy the setting files to this location?

ModeratorThe setup procedure is described here: http://www.biomap.ch/BioMAP_Install.html
In addition, there is a minor bug: the first project folder must be created manually. This problem was solved and will be fixed in the next release.

ModeratorHmmm, that sounds odd… There are a couple of things you may want to check. First, make sure you have the three files *.img, *.t2m and *.hdr in the same directory with the same file name. You may also try to copy the files in the root directory and rename them to a short file name. If that does not help, compare the file size of *.img with the calculated amount of data (x points times y points times data points in ms times 2). The header should contain 384 Bytes and the *.t2m 4 times the number of data points in the MS. This will help us to narrow down the problem…

ModeratorThe demo data set from this site has just unit resolution to reduce file size. BioMap can work with whatever resolution you acquired the images with.

ModeratorThere are two things which can go wrong: file extension and location.
Windows: Copy the file lincenserc to %USERPROFILE%/Application Data/BioMap (e.g. C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Application Data/BioMap. Make sure it does not have an extension. If you are not positive, unpack [file name=removetxt.zip size=143]http://www.maldi-msi.org/components/com_joomlaboard/uploaded/files/removetxt.zip[/file] to the same location and execute it.
Linux/Mac: Copy the file lincenserc to the BioMap dir, e.g. /local/BioMap and remove any extension.
That’s all, we just tested it and it works.

ModeratorNot with the current software. If there is a big demand for this, we might dig out the source and modify it…
