ModeratorThe dll we use for this function is from a third party and therefore we have no control on the codecs being listed 🙁 . I successfully use the Microsoft MPEG-4 codec.

ModeratorI finally had some time to look at the code and fix the issues you pointed. Check out BioMap version 3.7.4 and let me know how it works. Here’s what I changed:
[ul]
[li]Export of data without saving it to the database[/li]
[li]Tiff export with LZW compression, no limitation in image numbers (might take a while, though)[/li]
[li]Animated gif export[/li]
[li]Export as movie. A dll was missing, which is now part of the package. Play around with the codecs installed on your computer, some of them give strange results. Full frame for example results in a movie which plays just fine when watched with QuickTime Movie Player or ImageReady, but not on the Windows Media Player. MPEG-4 worked best for me.[/li][/ul]markus

ModeratorThat sounds like a problem with the instrument or the computer – the MMSIT would not be able to cause these strange things, even if it wanted 😉 . The symptoms simply surface during the image acquisition due to the constant use of the components. Please let us know when you fixed the problem…

ModeratorJust select ‘File – Scan+’ and save the file in this database prior to your analysis.

ModeratorSuper, glad it worked…
Well, Stefan could build a new package… or you can do a manual installation which will be absolutely safe. Just open the cab file in the zip file and extract CreateTarget.exe and VideoOCX.ocx to a common directory. Try to run CreateTarget – chances are that you have the other dlls already on your system and it might work. If not, ask a local programmer and he will get you going within a couple of minutes… just don’t execute setup 😉

ModeratorOK, before I answer I just want to state that I was not involved in the development of this software 😉 … but as experienced programmer I might have a solution for you. In the file setup.lst of the distribution you can find a list of the files which were placed on the computer during the installation. I suspect that the file msvcrt.dll is causing the problem. Most likely, the software was built on a Windows XP with the version 7.0.2600.0 of the file not being backward compatible to Windows NT. What you need to do is to get the old version of msvcrt.dll back on your system. There are numerous solutions to that, I would mount the disk on another system and just replace the file from a similar NT system. Just ask a system administrator, he’ll know how to do that… and let us know if it worked for you…

ModeratorWe looked into the Chip and the Echo earlier this year. What we need is an apparatus which can automatically coat larger areas of up to a microtiter plate. Shimadzu was very responsive to our request for specifications of the Chip, but it didn’t allow a homogeneous coating. I guess this issue might be solved by now. The Echo looked promising, but according to Labcyte a first commercial instrument for matrix coating will not be available before 2007.
There is more to come. Leap Technologies has a couple of products which might be interesting. And there are rumours which suggest that new products will be announced soon…;)
For now we stick with our automated pneumatic sprayer. This allows us to reproducibly cover large areas with matrix – no clogging of nozzles.

ModeratorPleas describe exactly what you are trying to do and where it fails. You max copy the images directly and paste them into another application.

ModeratorWhat you need is a converter – just renaming the file won’t do it. Please ask ABI for the newest release.

ModeratorI assume that you use the z-dimension to save multiple selected images? Or you stitch them together as tiles? When we save our data, we put the spectra information in the 4th dimension which allows to use all the BioMap functions.

ModeratorIt’s not clear to me what you try to achieve and where it goes wrong ❓ Could you post an example?
