Post-doctoral researcher: High resolution MSI & microproteomics

Vacancy number: PSF-PRP3

As a postdoctoral researcher in the new Pisa Science Foundation research institute you will join a multidisciplinary team of proteomics and genomics researchers focused on molecular pathology. You will work at the interface of high resolution mass spectrometry imaging with quantitative microproteomics, to better characterize changes in the proteome of diseased tissues. You will join leading experts in biomolecular mass spectrometry, clinical genomics, and cancer pathology; and use class-leading infrastructure.

The work will be performed within the recently formed Pisa Science Foundation. A very generous start-up means the institute is equipped with the latest genomics and proteomics technologies for tissue- and cell-based biomedical research. The proteomics lab is currently equipped with an Orbitrap Fusion and a Q-Exactive Plus, a Proxeon Easy-nLC 1000, Waters H-Class Bio UPLC, MALDI imaging, laser-capture microdissection and liquid extraction surface analysis facilities.

The broad range of expertise and leading facilities available within the institute and through the close partnership with the Department of Pathology provide excellent opportunities for biomedical analysis. The project will provide a highly rewarding environment for the application of modern bioanalytical methods in clinical research.

Your profile

You hold a Ph.D. in biomolecular mass spectrometry or related topic. Previous experience with mass spectrometry imaging and/or quantitative biomolecular mass spectrometry is essential, and experience with oncoproteomics highly advantageous. You will be expected to present and publish your results at international workshops and conferences. A flexible work approach and ability to work effectively within an international, multidisciplinary team will be essential.

We offer

You will be employed on the basis of a 40-hour week. The salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
