The Dartois laboratory at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, Public Health Research Institute, is recruiting a senior scientist at the Project Leader level to oversee the MALDI mass spectrometry imaging platform, including the recruitment and supervision of team members who will design and conduct MS-Imaging studies contributing to anti-infective drug discovery and development. The candidate will have the opportunity to establish her/himself as an independent Faculty member.
The MALDI MSI platform consists in two MALDI Orbitrap Mass Spectrometers (ThermoScientific) with related accessories: cryotome, sprayer, imaging and lipidomics software. These two instruments are located within a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) facility, which can easily be switched to BSL-2 for projects that do not require BSL3 measures. A SolariX XR from Bruker is expected to be delivered in Q3 2018.
The candidate will lead collaborative projects, analyze data, present the results, communicate with collaborators and contribute to drafting grant proposals and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary lipidomic, proteomic and metabolomic studies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis host-pathogen interactions.
The Dartois lab has access to multiple state of the art platforms: mouse and rabbit disease models in BSL2 and BSL3 facilities, a large analytical facility including four HPLC mass spectrometers coupled to laser-capture microdissection, multiple confocal and fluorescence microscopes http://phri.org/facilities/facil_imaging.asp. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary studies at the interface between molecular biology, cellular biology, analytical sciences, and disease models of host-pathogen interactions.
Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree. Prior research experience in MALDI mass spectrometry imaging is required.
We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and benefits.
