AIMS 2019 - 8th Annual Advanced Imaging Mass Spectrometry @ Vanderbilt University

The 8th Annual ADVANCED IMAGING MASS SPECTROMETRY (AIMS.2019) Laboratory Course will be held Tuesday, April 9 – Friday, April 12, 2019 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. The AIMS.2019 Laboratory Course is a unique educational opportunity designed to teach the procedures of MALDI Imaging Mass Spectrometry. The format includes both lectures and hands-on workshops with time dedicated to on-site demos from instrument vendors. The course will cover the details of sample preparation, matrix application, instrumentation, and image and data processing. In addition, a number of technology highlights will be presented, including high-speed imaging, high-sensitivity imaging, and image fusion.

The course is designed for mid-level to senior investigators who are familiar with MALDI and have a working knowledge of mass spectrometry or histology. This course has a significant number of hands-on workshops scheduled; as a result, we do not have the capacity to introduce the technology to those without the prerequisite experience and training. For attendees that are new to one of these areas, we will provide optional introductory lectures on mass spectrometry and histology on Monday, April 8, from 4-6 PM.

MSACL EU - Mass Spectrometry: Applications to the Clinical Lab (MSACL)

MSACL provides a forum for discussing the clinical application of mass spectrometry by bringing together academic and industrial experts in the field with those driven to explore and understand more about the potential application and benefits. The mission of MSACL is to accelerate the implementation of mass spectrometry in the clinical laboratory with the goal of contributing to the improvement of patient standard-of-care as well as reducing health care costs.

Each year – there is a “Tissue imaging” track dedicated to the development and applications of MSI to the clinical area. This year we are pleased to Welcome Professor Frits Koning as key note speaker, who is specialized in immunology and in particular the protein chemical aspects of immune-mediated diseases.
